Discord has a secret Snake game built into its 404 error page. It’s called SNEK and it’s got playful visuals and a snake that slithers around obstacles. To get there, do the following:

Step 1: Open Discord’s 404 page

You’ll see a fun little animation featuring Wumpus, the Discord mascot. If you look in the bottom right corner, you’ll notice a small sign with a green snake.

Back in 2019, Google Maps gave Snake a global makeover. In this version, you drive a bus or train, picking up passengers and landmarks instead of apples. The goal is the same: don’t crash.

How to play:

It played like classic Snake but added a travel theme. It worked well on both desktop and mobile and remained available for years. In 2025, Google took the game offline, although a few mirrors are still available.

Snake on YouTube’s Buffer Screen (now removed)

Snake on Old Nokia Phones (still works on some models)

If you grew up in the late 90s or early 2000s, you probably remember Snake on your Nokia. First released on the Nokia 6110 in 1997, it became one of the most iconic mobile games ever. Some newer Nokia phones still include a modern version, but if you still have an old model somewhere, you can fire it up and play the original like it's 1999.

Snake in Google Doodles (archived)

Snake has appeared in several of Google’s Doodles over the years. One memorable version came out for Chinese New Year in 2013. These special Doodles offered themed visuals and festive backgrounds. You can still find some of them in the official Google Doodle archive if you want to revisit them.
